With the globalization of the world and a lot of the market is moving to the digitized world the communication also happens digitized. Most companies, if not all, that are not a part of the third world communicate through E-mails.

Communication with the government, private matters, etc also tend to be through E-mails which is why one inbox very quickly can overflow with the information where important E-mails can be lost in the volumes.
